HODGKIN'S LYMPHOMA FOCUS GROUPS

University of Minnesota Medical School Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation
DESCRIPTION:
Researchers at the University of Minnesota were interested in the experiences of hodgkin's lymphoma patients who had at least one secondary condition and hodgkin's lymphoma patients with no secondary conditions. OMS developed the discussion guide and conducted two focus groups, one for patients with secondary conditions and one for patients with no secondary conditions.
Topics included thoughts about surgery/treatment, changes in the first few months after diagnosis, challenges or barriers to resuming day-to-day life, behavior changes, thoughts on screening, and preferred methods of communication.
RESULTS:
Following the focus groups, OMS had the recordings transcribed and conducted qualitative analysis on the findings. OMS provided a final report of the findings to the client.
