MSTP provides testing materials for home school educators in Minnesota. This service is provided in cooperation with the educator's local school district. We do not send out specimen sets of tests for review by home school educators.
The order form requires a signature by the school district superintendent (or designee) (Minnesota State Legislation: Subdivision 11) to indicate that they are in agreement with the time of testing (typically fall or spring) and the achievement test to be used (the Standford Achievement Test is the only achievement test for which MSTP provides scoring services).
Unless the district has pre-advised us that that they will be responsible for payment, all home school educators must pre-pay for their testing service. We accept check or money order; the costs are clearly indicated on the order form.
Results from the testing are returned directly to the test administrator. A copy of the results is provided with the returned materials so the home school educator can forward score information to the district, if so required. MSTP does not provide home school testing scores to the district (unless the district administers the tests) or the state.
The State of Minnesota requires nationally norm-referenced standardized achievement examinations for home schools, which MSTP testing services provides. Minnesota State Law does require additional qualifications for the use of standardized tests in all home schools.
