The Office of Measurement Services (OMS) takes the responsibility
for the scoring of Course Exams very seriously. OMS scores all
the Course Exams in a secure, timely, and accurate manner. The
integrity of the course exams are protected through our procedural
methods and in-house security.

A staff member edits the exams to verify that omitted questions,
multiple answers, and erase marks are accurately represented in
the scanned data.

Security
Equipment:
-
All servers are protected and security patches are updated daily.
-
Built-in hardware and software protections are standard.
Personnel:
- Only staff members handle exams, not student workers.
- Staff members are trained in managing confidential data.
Alarm System:
-
The OMS building is equipped with motion detectors, card access and
alarm systems, and is directly connected to police and fire protection.
From the time that Course Exams are checked into OMS to the time
that Course Exams are sent out for delivery, OMS takes great
measures to ensure the security of exams.

Optional Service
OMS offers the option of printing Individual Reports to
augment the security of exams after the Course Exams have been
returned to professors. Faculty can request Individual
Reports on the Exam Reporting Order Form.
Individual Reports:
Adds to instructional value by providing a page for each student with
-
His/her score, percentile rank and group statistics
-
A list of each item he/she did not answer correctly, showing
his/her answer and the correct answer
May minimize cheating:
-
The Individual Report is more difficult to alter than answer
sheets.
-
Professors will be able to retain original student answers
for recordkeeping.
